Music for swimming in. Its all long slow builds, deep grooves and many waves.
It's been a huge journey to bring this album into the world. Although the studio process was short, (just 2 weeks from first tracking to release) with all the tracks being first and only takes, the experience which the music was born through, was a long, dark winter. It was full of cold, seemingly endless nights, alone, in a van, by the lake, beneath the mountains and the stars. For months.
My piano and a few candles were my salvation. I'd play hypnotic rhythms for hours, and when I could play no more, I'd open the back of the van, and gaze out at the famously starry southern sky from beneath layers of bedding, for hour after hour.
The nights were long.
This album is a reflection of those long winter nights, manifest as sound. Through the making of it, and through the conscious choice to seek out the magic in the remote, a greater beauty was revealed to me than I could ever ask or hope to find.
It is now my hope that you can glimpse it too.
