"While we Wait" was born through the mishap of a broken down tour bus. A rather badly broken down bus, requiring many days of waiting while parts were found, and work was carried out.
Conditions were perfect for some introvert time. As it had all happened, almost all of our belongings were left with the bus, but I did bring my laptop with me, and I started to listen through some recordings I'd made previously, which were never intended as anything other than improvisations, perhaps to later be put to some video footage of our travels in the bus...
Then, facing the repair bill, the idea of putting out a fundraiser album occurred to me. The title "While we Wait", was an obvious summary of the prevailing conditions, but when I considered the cover photo, the idea got so much bigger, and more meaningful.
We spend so much of our time rushing around, feeling almost guilty if we're not busy. Waiting is almost akin to a lazy persons mis-use of precious time. Yet, sometimes, or maybe even often, it's when we wait, that we begin to notice the real magic of life. The treasures that we didn't even notice on our first quick scan of each situation as we rush through our days. The things like the sunset which is now the cover of this album.
May we all find ways to enrich the waiting moments of our lives, or even, may we all create more moments of waiting, that our lives may become enriched.

I had it on repeat play today as I finished the new novel “Sea Of Tranquility” by Emily St John Mandel.
